# Read this account's retention settings

`GET /api/v1/retention`

`mode` is `off` (nothing is kept) or `derived` (a closed list of derived fields per inspection: hashes, signal ids and severities, score, band, reason code, policy verdict; never the file's text or its name). `days` is 30, 90 or 365. `bytesDays` is how long the file itself is kept, encrypted, next to each derived record: 7, 30 or 90, or null (off, the default). `bytesAvailable` is false when this server cannot keep files at all; `bytesDays` cannot be turned on then. `keys` lists the live keys and their own setting: `none` means calls made with that key are never kept.
