# Create a source

`POST /v1/sources`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.talonic.com`
- URL: `https://api.talonic.com/v1/sources`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Create a new document ingest source. Returns the source details plus a
dedicated `api_key` for uploading documents into this source.

## Request body

- SourceCreateRequest
  - `name` string, required: Source name.
  - `default_schema_id` string, uuid: Optional schema ID to apply by default to documents in this source.

## Response `201`

Source created with a dedicated API key.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is invalid.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `403`: The API key does not have the required scope.
- `429`: Daily rate limit exceeded.
