# Create a routing rule

`POST /v1/routing-rules`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.talonic.com`
- URL: `https://api.talonic.com/v1/routing-rules`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Create a rule that fires on `document_classified` triggers. The
`actions.type` key (when present) controls the action kind
(`route_to_schema` by default).

## Request body

- RoutingRuleCreateRequest
  - `name` string, required: Rule name. Required, non-empty.
  - `conditions` object: Trigger condition payload; stored as `trigger_config` internally.
  - `actions` object: Action payload. If an `actions.type` key is provided it becomes the rule's `action_type` (default: `route_to_schema`).
    - `type` string: Action kind identifier.
  - `priority` integer: Lower priority runs first. Defaults to 100 server-side.

## Response `200`

Routing rule created (alias of 201).

  - `trigger_type` string, required: Trigger kind. Always `document_classified` for rules created via this API.
  - `conditions` object: Mirror of the internal `trigger_config`.
  - `action_type` string, required: Resolved action kind. Defaults to `route_to_schema` when not specified on the request body.
  - `actions` object: Action payload. May include a `type` key that drives `action_type`.
  - `priority` integer, required: Lower runs first. Default 100.
  - `is_active` boolean, required
  - `review_required` boolean, nullable
  - `source_connection_id` string, uuid, nullable
  - `created_at` string, date-time
  - `updated_at` string, date-time, nullable
  - `links` object
    - `self` string

## Other responses

- `201`: Routing rule created.
- `400`: The request is invalid.
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `429`: Daily rate limit exceeded.
