# Generate a matching strategy

`POST /v1/matching/strategies/generate`

## Request

Synthesize a draft matching strategy by analysing reference data shape and the supplied target descriptor. Returns the generated strategy entity for review and execution via /v1/matching/configs/{id}/smart-run.

## Request body

- object
  - `reference_data_id` string, uuid, required: Reference dataset to use as the source of truth.
  - `target_type` string, required: Target scope type — e.g. "run", "schema", "document_filter".
  - `target_value` object: Target descriptor payload — shape depends on target_type.
  - `user_prompt` string: Optional natural-language guidance to steer strategy synthesis.

## Response `201`

Strategy generated.

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `429`: Daily rate limit exceeded.
