# Get the active governed read contract

`GET /v1/data-products/{id}/read-contract`

The frozen, versioned field surface cross-pipeline consumers (Business Rules, Apps) read this product through — served fields with types and sensitivity, the record identity, permitted match key sets, and retention. Returns 404 with guidance when none has been published; publish one with `POST /v1/data-products/{id}/read-contract/publish`.

## Other responses

- `404`: Data product not found, or it has no active governed read contract yet — the error message points at the publish route.
- `503`: Read contracts are not available in this deployment
