# Cancel a pending process

`POST /api/process/{processId}/cancel`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://sign.swisscom.ch/system`
- URL: `https://sign.swisscom.ch/system/api/process/{processId}/cancel`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Client credentials
  - Token URL: `https://sign.swisscom.ch/realms/swisscom-public/protocol/openid-connect/token` scopes: `sswp:process:manage`
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/swisscom/apis/swisscom-sign-integration-api/docs/api/process/:processId/cancel/post.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

Cancels a pending process. All signers with status `WAITING` or `PENDING` get the status `CANCELED` and lose access to the process. Afterwards, the process status changes to `COMPLETED` and all participants receive a completion notification, unless `COMPLETION` or `ALL` has been suppressed via `notification.suppress` when releasing the process.

Preconditions:
* The process must have the status `PENDING`.

## Path parameters

- `processId` string, uuid, required

## Response `200`

The process has been canceled and is returned in its new state.

- Process: A process represents an end-to-end signing flow with 1..n signers over 1..n documents. The initiator can optionally sign; additional signers are listed in `invitees`.
  - `id` string, uuid: System-assigned process identifier.
  - `status` 'CREATED' | 'PENDING' | 'COMPLETED' | 'EXPIRED': Current lifecycle state of the process.
  - `signatureLevel` 'SIMPLE' | 'ADVANCED' | 'ADVANCED_EU' | 'QUALIFIED' | 'QUALIFIED_EU': Legal quality of the signature(s).
  - `initiator` union, required: Identifies the process initiator. One of: * NonPerson – technical/app initiator (no signature). * Person – human initiator (no signature). Either the email address or the first and last name must be specified. * Signer – initiator is also a signer.
    - NonPerson: Technical participant (non-human). The 'type' discriminator must be 'NON_PERSON'.
      - `type` 'NON_PERSON', required: Discriminator value. Must be 'NON_PERSON'.
      - `identification` string, uuid: System-assigned identifier of this participant.
      - `externalIdentifier` string: External reference from your system for correlation.
      - `name` string, required: Display name of the technical system.
    - Person: Human participant who does not sign. The 'type' discriminator must be 'PERSON'.
      - `type` 'PERSON', required: Discriminator value. Must be 'PERSON'.
      - `identification` string, uuid: System-assigned identifier of this participant.
      - `externalIdentifier` string: External reference from your system.
      - `firstName` string: First name.
      - `lastName` string: Last name.
      - `email` string, email: Email address (RFC 5322).
      - `mobile` string: Mobile number in international format (`+` or `00` prefix, no spaces or dashes). Swiss numbers (+41) must be mobile numbers (+4175 to +4179), numbers of other countries are only checked for the format.
    - Signer: Human participant who signs. The 'type' discriminator must be 'SIGNER'.
      - `type` 'SIGNER', required: Discriminator value. Must be 'SIGNER'.
      - `identification` string, uuid: System-assigned identifier of this signer.
      - `externalIdentifier` string: External reference from your system. Must not be used by more than one current signer (status `WAITING`, `PENDING` or `SIGNED`) of a process. A signer that has been replaced, delegated or removed may share it with a current signer, e.g. a delegate or a replacement made in the Swisscom Sign UI inherits the reference of the previous signer.
      - `firstName` string, required: First name.
      - `lastName` string, required: Last name.
- Authorization behavior: If a mobile number is provided, the fallback code authorization uses an SMS code. - Signing behavior: If the number is a Swiss mobile (+41…), it will be preselected for ADVANCED signatures and cannot be changed in the UI.
      - `role` string: Role or function of the signer.
      - `signingIndex` integer, nullable: Zero-based position in the serial signing order. Only relevant when the process is released with `signingOrder: SERIAL` — ignored otherwise. If omitted, treated as `0`.
      - `verification` Verification: Online identity verification (GwG) for a signer. Only available for clients of type `Corporate`. Providing this object in non-corporate context will cause the create request to be rejected with a validation error. Usage (input): - To enforce GwG identification, include this object in the signer when creating the process. Presence of this object (even as an empty object) enables the online identification requirement. - `residentPermit` configures the verification flow. If omitted, the system defaults to `true`. Outcome (read-only): - Pending: both `verifiedOn` and `rejectedOn` are null. - Approved: `verifiedOn` is set and result artifacts may be available. - Rejected: `rejectedOn` is set. In this case, typically only `payload` is present. Result artifacts (read-only): - `payload` contains the provider result as a JSON string (system integrators only). - `files` may contain references to a PDF report and a ZIP bundle provided by the verification provider. Files can be downloaded via `GET /api/process/{processId}/file/{fileId}`. The PDF is additionally attached to the process as a document and must be signed together with the other documents.
        - `processId` string: Verification process identifier at the provider (read-only).
        - `verifiedOn` string, date-time: Timestamp when verification was approved (UTC, read-only). Mutually exclusive with `rejectedOn`.
        - `rejectedOn` string, date-time: Timestamp when verification was rejected (UTC, read-only). Mutually exclusive with `verifiedOn`.
        - `payload` string: Provider result payload as JSON string (read-only). Present for approved or rejected verifications. Intended for system integrators.
        - `files` string[]: File references created by the verification provider (read-only), e.g. PDF report and/or ZIP bundle. Download via `GET /api/process/{processId}/file/{fileId}`.
        - `residentPermit` boolean, nullable: Whether a Swiss residence permit is required for the signer. Input parameter used to configure the online identification flow. If omitted, the system defaults to `true`.
      - `ident` Ident: Online identity identification (GwG) of a signer with the full attempt history. Replaces the deprecated `verification`. Only available for clients of type `Corporate`. Providing this object in a non-corporate context causes the create request to be rejected with a validation error. Usage (input): - `required = true` marks that the signer must complete an online identification before signing. Omitted / `false` means no identification is required. - `requiredResidenceCountry` optionally configures the residence requirement (e.g. `CHE`); `null` means no residence requirement. Outcome (read-only): - `status` reflects the overall progress; `attempts` holds the completed and pending attempts with the extracted person / document data, the name match and the provider file references.
        - `status` 'CREATED' | 'PENDING' | 'APPROVED' | 'REJECTED': Overall progress of the identification (read-only): * `CREATED` – identification exists, no attempt started yet. * `PENDING` – identification in progress (stays pending after a rejected attempt while a retry is possible). * `APPROVED` – completed successfully (final). * `REJECTED` – finally rejected, no retry possible (final).
        - `required` boolean, nullable: Whether the signer must complete an online identification (GwG). Input flag: set to `true` to require the identification. Omitted or `false` means no requirement.
        - `requiredResidenceCountry` 'CHE', nullable: Country in which the signer must prove residence if the passport was not issued by that country (ISO 3166-1 alpha-3). Input configuration; `null` means no residence requirement. Currently only `CHE` is supported; new countries require a coordinated release.
        - `attempts` IdentAttempt[]: All identification attempts, ordered chronologically by start date (oldest first); completed attempts are never overwritten (read-only).
          - `type` 'ONLINE': Identification procedure of the attempt (read-only): * `ONLINE` – online identification (OID) by a photo of the identification document and additional checks.
          - `provider` string: Identification provider that handled the attempt (e.g. `TI_M` or `IDNOW`).
          - `status` 'PENDING' | 'COMPLETED': Technical status of the attempt at the provider (read-only): * `PENDING` – the attempt is in progress. * `COMPLETED` – the attempt is finished (approval or rejection is reflected by the overall identification status).
          - `startedOn` string, date-time: Timestamp when the attempt was started (UTC).
          - `completedOn` string, date-time, nullable: Timestamp when the attempt was completed (UTC).
          - `result` string: Result of the identification provider (e.g. the aggregated result of TI&M or the result of IDnow).

          - `nameMatch` 'UNCHECKED' | 'MATCH' | 'MISMATCH': Outcome of the comparison between the identification document name and the signer's name (read-only): * `UNCHECKED` – not compared (e.g. no person data, or a name was missing). * `MATCH` – the names match. * `MISMATCH` – the names do not match. Names are compared normalized: case- and accent-insensitive (e.g. `ë` matches `e`); the last name must be equal and at least one first name must match, and umlaut spellings are not transliterated (`ä` ≠ `ae`, `ß` ≠ `ss`).
