# Save Chat

`POST /api/mcp/save_chat`

Persist a chat thread to a chapter+revision slot.

Replaces any prior thread at that slot — pass the FULL message
history each time, not a delta. `chapter_chat(auto_save=true)`
does this automatically; this endpoint is for callers that build
the thread themselves.

  - `job_id` string, required: The story job ID.
  - `chapter` integer, required
  - `revision` integer: Revision number. 0 = general chapter chat.
  - `slot` string, nullable: Optional non-chapter chat slot, e.g. selected paragraph thread.

    - `plan` object, nullable
    - `cover` object, nullable
    - `writer_thinking` string, nullable
    - `writer_thinking_data` object, nullable
