# Request a $4.99 badge waiver payment

`POST /api/v1/submissions/{id}/payment`

## Request

Requires verified website control and approved content. No submission control token is required. When MPP is enabled, returns a direct Stripe MPP challenge with HTTP 402. Direct MPP purchases are sold by submitby.ai and do not use Managed Payments. Use /checkout for a hosted Managed Checkout link. When MPP is disabled and Managed Payments is enabled, this endpoint returns Checkout with HTTP 200. Never repeat an uncertain payment with a new purchase.

- `402`: Payment required; use WWW-Authenticate with an MPP client
- `404`: Unknown submission or invalid control token
- `409`: State conflict; follow the returned next action
- `422`: Invalid input

- `503`: Payments disabled or not configured
