# Create and activate an OOO

`POST /v2/users/{user_id}/ooo`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.stuut.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.stuut.ai/v2/users/{user_id}/ooo`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Self-service or admin-in-same-org only. Assigns the backup user and saves
them as the user's default backup. Conflicts (user already OOO, backup
currently OOO, or user currently covering for someone) return 409.

## Path parameters

- `user_id` string, required

## Request body

- CreateUserOOORequest
  - `backup_user_id` string, required: The user covering this OOO.
  - `start_date` string, date, nullable: Defaults to today.
  - `end_date` string, date, nullable: Planned last day of coverage.

## Response `201`

  - `modified_at` string, date-time, nullable, required

  - `user_id` string, required
  - `backup_user_id` string, required: The user covering this OOO.
  - `created_by_id` string, nullable, required: NULL = self-service or system-initiated.
  - `start_date` string, date, required: The start date of OOO.
  - `end_date` string, date, nullable, required: Planned last day of coverage.
  - `object` string, required: String representing the object's type. Objects of the same type share the same value.
