# Create Eval

`POST /console/v1/evals`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://statsigapi.net`
- URL: `https://statsigapi.net/console/v1/evals`
- Auth: API key in header `STATSIG-API-KEY`

Create an eval, the container for runs. Optionally link it to a prompt.

## Request body

- EvalCreateDto
  - `name` string, required: Eval name.
  - `description` string
  - `promptID` string: Prompt name or ID this eval belongs to, if any.

## Response `201`

Create Eval

- object
  - `message` string, required: A simple string explaining the result of the operation.
  - `data` object, required: A single result.
    - `id` string, required: Eval ID.
    - `name` string, required: Eval name. Used as the identifier in routes.
    - `description` string, required
    - `aiConfigID` string, nullable, required: Prompt that created this eval, if any.
    - `createdTime` number, double, required
    - `lastModifiedTime` number, double, required

## Other responses

- `403`: Forbidden. The request was valid, but the server is refusing action. You might not have the necessary permissions to access the resource.
- `404`: Not Found. The requested resource could not be found.
