# Update nickname and/or default board visibility

`POST /v1/me`

## Request

  - API key in cookie `sd_session`
  - HTTP bearer

## Request body

- object
  - `nickname` string
  - `default_visibility` 'public' | 'private'
  - `explore_optout` boolean: Free-tier only — opt this account's questions out of the public Explore stream.

## Response `200`

Updated; returns the user.

  - `user` User: The signed-in user. Never includes the password hash or raw session.

    - `nickname` string
    - `email` string: May be null for an OAuth-only account.
    - `email_verified` boolean
    - `avatar_seed` string: Seed for GET /v1/avatar/{seed}.

    - `tier` string
    - `default_visibility` 'public' | 'private'
    - `providers` string[]: Linked OAuth providers.

- `401`: No valid session (cookie or Bearer token).
