# Start or resume an AI conversation

`POST /api/v1/ai/conversation/start`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://stackby.com`

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Creates a new AI conversation or resumes an existing one. When dashboardContext is provided, returns starter prompts and contextual guidance.

## Request body

  - `stackId` string, nullable: Optional stack ID to start conversation in
  - `startMode` 'continue' | 'new': Whether to continue existing or start new
  - `conversationId` string, nullable: Existing conversation ID to resume
  - `workspaceId` string: Required when dashboardContext is provided
  - `context` object
    - `tableId` string
    - `viewId` string
  - `dashboardContext` object: Optional - when starting from dashboard (Airtable Omni style)
    - `companyName` string
    - `industryName` string
    - `audienceName` string
    - `teamTypeForMarketing` string
    - `numberOfPrompts` integer
