# Create a new session (you become host)

`POST /session/start`

## Request body

  - `sessionName` string
  - `roomSecret` string: Optional shared secret mixed into every key — never sent to the server. A member who joins with a different secret cannot read chat or files.
  - `username` string: Display name in the session
