# Create a contact

`POST /data/contacts`

## Request

Create a contact.

## Request body

- object: Following the configuration set on the universe, the mandatory field should email OR cellphone OR unique_key
  - `lastname` string
  - `firstname` string
  - `creation_date` string: This date of creation of this contact, will be used for trigger campaigns, Ex: Welcome email. Warning the timezone set for this date is the user api timezone and not the system timezone.
  - `language` string: en, fr, it, es, ...
  - `email` string
  - `cellphone` string
  - `lists` object[]
    - `id` integer
    - `name` string
  - `double_optin` object: [Optional] **Require subscribers to confirm their subscription by sending a confirmation request.**<br /> <br /> **Legacy Version**<br /> - `message`: id of the message that must be sent. This message must contain a link to $confirmUrl$<br /> - `reminder`: id of the reminder message. This message must contain $confirmUrl$ as well.<br /> - `reminder_delay`: if you want a reminder to be sent, specify the number of days between the first message and the reminder.<br /> ``` { "message": "aw94xefgh", "reminder": "94was76ef", "reminder_delay": 34 } ``` <br /> <br /> **Splio Edition 2025**<br /> - `enabled`: Enable double optin<br /> ``` { "enabled": true }```
  - `custom_fields` object[]: Custom fields settings
    - `id` integer
    - `name` string
    - `value` string: The custom field value, can be an integer, a float, a string or a date at format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, depending on the configuration of the custom field
  - `tracking_consent` object[]: [Optional] Track consent events for this contact. Each entry records a consent state change. The date is interpreted in the universe timezone.
    - `channel` string: Consent channel. Currently only 'email' is supported.
    - `scope` string: Consent scope. Currently only 'open' is supported.
    - `enabled` boolean: Consent state: true = opted in, false = opted out.
    - `source` string: [Optional] Source of the consent action.
    - `date` string: [Optional] Date of the consent action in format YYYY-MM-DD HH:mm:ss (universe timezone). Defaults to current date if not provided.

## Response `201`

contact creation is successful.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request validation failed.
- `401`: Authentication failed.
- `403`: Forbidden.
