# Add a member

`POST /v1/members`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.spice.ai`
- URL: `https://api.spice.ai/v1/members`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Adds a new member to the organization with the specified roles.

## Headers

- `X-Org-Name` string

## Request body

- object
  - `username` string, required: The username of the user to add
  - `roles` string[]: Roles to assign to the new member

## Response `201`

Member added successfully

  - `username` string
  - `roles` string[]
  - `created_at` string, date-time

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request body
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Insufficient scope, not an org admin/owner, or only owners can assign the admin or owner role
- `404`: User not found
- `409`: User is already a member of this organization
