# Add a team member

`POST /v1/teams/members`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.speedify.com`
- URL: `https://api.speedify.com/v1/teams/members`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP basic

Sends an invitation to add a new member to the team. If you want to invite real people, omit the password field so they receive an invitation email. If you are creating accounts for machines, set a password and the account will be created directly.

## Request body

- object
  - `email` string, email, required: Email address of the new member
  - `role` 'admin' | 'user' | 'guest': Role to assign. admin: can manage members, API keys, and seats. user: can access Speedify and dedicated servers. guest: same as user.
  - `password` string: Optional password. If omitted, an invitation email is sent instead.

## Response `200`

Member added (invitation sent)

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error or user already has a paid account
- `401`: Invalid or missing API key
- `403`: Valid API key but insufficient permissions
- `429`: No seats available
- `500`: Internal server error
