# Suggest a genre

`POST /v1/tracks/{id}/suggestions`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sonovault.now`
- URL: `https://api.sonovault.now/v1/tracks/{id}/suggestions`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key`

Suggest a better genre for a track. Suggestions are reviewed by the Sonovault team before they affect the catalog. A successful call returns the suggestion with `status: "pending"`. Requires a paid plan.

**Requires a paid plan**: the free tier returns `403` for this endpoint.

**Limits**

- Up to 100 suggestions per day per account. Can be increased upon request.

## Request body

- object
  - `genreId` integer, required: a genre id from `GET /v1/genres`.
  - `note` string: a short explanation for the reviewer, max 100 characters.

## Response `200`

Successful response

- Suggestion: A metadata edit you have suggested, and its review state.
  - `id` integer, required: Suggestion ID.
  - `track_id` integer, required: The track the suggestion applies to.
  - `field` 'genre', required: Which field is being corrected. Genre is the only field open to suggestions today.
  - `proposed_value` object, required: What you proposed.
    - `genre_id` integer, required: The suggested genre's ID.
    - `genre_name` string, required: The suggested genre's name.
  - `current_value` object, required: What the track held when you submitted, kept for context during review.
    - `genre` string[], required: The track's genres at submission time.
    - `subgenre` string[], required: The track's subgenres at submission time.
  - `note` string, nullable, required: Your note to the reviewer. `null` when none was given.
  - `status` 'pending' | 'approved' | 'rejected', required: Review state. New suggestions come back as `pending`.
  - `review_note` string, nullable, required: The reviewer's reply. `null` until reviewed, and often after.
  - `created_at` string, required: When you submitted it, ISO-8601 UTC.
  - `reviewed_at` string, nullable, required: When it was reviewed, ISO-8601 UTC. `null` while pending.
