# Reply to a received email

`POST /v1/emails/receiving/{id}/reply`

## Request

Send a reply to a received message through the normal send pipeline (credits, suppression, safety checks, webhooks). The reply is threaded with In-Reply-To and References and linked to the received message. From defaults to the receiving address when it can send (its domain is verified, or it is a receiving subdomain of a verified domain), otherwise to the same local part on the nearest verified parent domain with Reply-To set to the receiving address; pass from to pick another verified reply address. To defaults to the sender's Reply-To, then From. Requires the inbound:read and email:send scopes.

## Other responses

- `400`: Bad request - check your payload
- `401`: Invalid or missing API key
- `402`: Plan limit reached - upgrade the plan to add more
- `403`: Forbidden - domain not verified or insufficient permissions
- `404`: Resource not found
- `409`: Conflict - the resource already exists or changed meanwhile
- `413`: Error
- `422`: The request is well formed but cannot be carried out in the current state, for example an unpublished template
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded - retry after the period indicated in the Retry-After header
- `500`: Internal server error
