# Update a contact's field values

`POST /edit-contact/`

## Request

- Base URL: `http://api.smsfusion.com.au`
- URL: `http://api.smsfusion.com.au/edit-contact/`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in query parameter `key`
  - HTTP basic

Partial update - only fields present in the body change. Cannot add a field the list's locked shape doesn't already have. Field values must be scalar. Duplicate key spellings (case/whitespace variants) are consolidated onto the list's canonical spelling

## Other responses

- `401`: FIELD_EMPTY (no id) or VALIDATION_FAILED (field outside the locked shape, non-scalar value, array-style cc, or invalid phone number for the phone field)
- `404`: Contact not found or not owned
- `405`: Method not allowed - POST only
