# Delete an organization.

`DELETE /v1/org`

## Request

Deletes the organization the request acts in, once it holds no machines or balance and its subscription is cancelled. Requires a user login, not an API key, held by the organization's owner.

## Response `204`

Organization deleted, with its plan fee subscription ended and its keys, membership rows, registry entries, custom domains, registry credentials and leases gone; the account is marked deleted.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Only an owner can delete an organization, or the caller is an API key
- `409`: The organization still owns a machine, a volume, a pool, a checkpoint or a snapshot, holds credit on its balance, or owes for the period, each named in the message
- `422`: An individual account, not an organization
- `429`: Rate limited; retry after the Retry-After header
- `500`: Internal error
- `503`: The plan fee subscription could not be ended at Stripe, or plan billing is not enabled here; nothing was deleted.
