# Cordon a node.

`POST /v1/nodes/{id}/cordon`

## Request

Stops new machines from being placed on a node. Requires the `admin` scope.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `200`

No new placements land on the node; what runs on it is untouched

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `403`: Key lacks the required scope
- `404`: Not found
- `429`: Rate limited; retry after the Retry-After header
- `500`: Internal error
