# Cancel an invitation

`DELETE /invitations/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.smokeball.com`
- URL: `https://api.smokeball.com/invitations/{id}`
- Auth: API key in header `x-api-key` and API key in header `Authorization`

A cancelled invitation can no longer be accepted. Cancelling is asynchronous: the invitation
reads Cancelled once the cancellation is applied.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, required

## Response `202`

When the request is accepted. Returns a hypermedia 'Link' object of the cancelled invitation.

## Other responses

- `400`: When the invitation was already accepted, or is already cancelled everywhere ('Invitation is no longer valid').
- `403`: When the authenticated client lacks the `invitations/write` scope or carries no firm account (bodyless).
- `404`: When no invitation with the specified id exists for this account ('Invitation not found').
