# Request erasure of your account (GDPR Art. 17)

`POST /v1/account/deletion`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.slideforge.dev`
- URL: `https://api.slideforge.dev/v1/account/deletion`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`

Starts an account erasure. Nothing is deleted by this call: it sends a confirmation link to the account's email address, valid for 24 hours. Confirming schedules the erasure 24 hours out, and it can be cancelled at any point before then.

## Response `200`

Confirmation email sent

- DeletionRequestResponse: What the caller gets back when an erasure is requested.
  - `request_id` string, required: Reference for this request; quoted in every email about it
  - `state` string, required: pending_confirmation until the emailed link is clicked
  - `message` string, required: What the requester must do next
  - `email_sent_to` string, nullable: Where the confirmation was sent

## Other responses

- `401`: Authentication required
- `409`: No email address on the account — contact support instead
