# Read the five episode overrides.

`GET /scripts/{scriptUploadId}/overrides`

## Request

Returns `avatar`, `theater`, `soundscape`, `pitchDeck` and `locations` — the writer's per-episode direction layered over the Series Bible's visual canon (the soundscape over the studio default, returned as `soundscapeDefault`). All five keys always come back; null means none is set. Works for any Writers Lab episode, with or without a Story API artifact. The same read the Writers Lab, MCP `get_script_overrides` and `sleeperhit script overrides get` make. Read-only; costs no credits.

    - `avatar` string, nullable, required: Episode Avatar Override. Optional script-specific exception layered over the Series Bible visual canon for character portraits. Null: none is set, so the Series Bible visual canon applies.
    - `theater` string, nullable, required: Episode Theater Override. Optional script-specific exception layered over the Series Bible visual canon for theater presentation. Null: none is set, so the Series Bible visual canon applies.
    - `soundscape` string, nullable, required: Soundscape Style. Global sonic direction fed directly into adaptive scene music and beat cue generation. Null: none is set, so the studio default (`soundscapeDefault`) applies.
    - `pitchDeck` string, nullable, required: Episode Pitch Deck Override. Optional script-specific exception layered over the Series Bible visual canon for pitch deck generation. Null: none is set, so the Series Bible visual canon applies.
    - `locations` string, nullable, required: Episode Locations Override. Optional script-specific exception layered over the Series Bible visual canon for this episode's location plates. Null: none is set, so the Series Bible visual canon applies.
  - `soundscapeDefault` string, nullable, required: What a null `soundscape` falls back to: the studio's default soundscape style, or null when none is configured.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing, malformed, revoked, or expired API key.
- `403`: API key is valid but lacks the scope, is blocked by IP allowlist, or the account is disabled.
- `404`: The named project or source does not exist or is owned by another account.
- `429`: Rate limit for this API key + IP + route family was exceeded.
- `500`: The API failed unexpectedly. Safe to retry with the same Idempotency-Key.
