# Remove a member (or leave)

`DELETE /api/v1/orgs/{slug}/members/{userId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.skills-hub.ai`
- URL: `https://api.skills-hub.ai/api/v1/orgs/{slug}/members/{userId}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - API key in header `Authorization`

Removes a member from the organization. Requires the `ADMIN` org role, unless the caller is removing themselves (leaving the org). Removing the last remaining admin is rejected. Frees a billable seat and is recorded in the audit log as either `removed` or `left`.

## Path parameters

- `slug` string, required
- `userId` string, required

## Response `200`

Successful response. The returned fields are described in this endpoint's summary/description; typed per-field response schemas are being added incrementally.
