# Media · Video · Repurpose media into short clips

`POST /api/v2/repurpose`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.simplified.com`
- URL: `https://api.simplified.com/api/v2/repurpose`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Creates a clip project from a downloadable media source. Supports direct media URLs, YouTube (youtube.com or youtu.be), Vimeo, and Google Drive file links that the service can download. Private or login-only sources and arbitrary landing pages are not guaranteed. Costs credits. Returns immediately with the project id, not a task_id. Poll getRepurposeProject until job_status is DONE or UPDATED; FAILED is terminal. Then use listRepurposeClips for individual clip status and download URLs. Clips render asynchronously.

  - `media_url` string, uri, required: Downloadable source media file or supported YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive file URL. For a Simplified asset, resolve its fresh file URL first; an asset UUID is not a URL. Preserve signed query parameters.
  - `project_type` 'V' | 'A': V for source video; A for source audio/podcast.
  - `duration` '15' | '30' | '58' | '180' | '300': Target clip length in seconds (58 is the one-minute preset).
  - `aspect_ratio` 'youtube-shorts' | 'youtube-video' | 'instagram-post-video'
  - `clip_layout` 'auto' | 'just_active_speaker' | 'center_fit'
  - `language_code` string
  - `brand_kit_config` BrandKitConfig
    - `logo_id` string, uuid, nullable
    - `caption_style_id` string, uuid, nullable
