# Media · Video · Create a custom timestamp clip

`POST /api/v2/repurpose/{project_id}/segments`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.simplified.com`
- URL: `https://api.simplified.com/api/v2/repurpose/{project_id}/segments`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Creates and renders a custom clip from an existing repurposing project whose transcription is ready. start_time and end_time are absolute source seconds. Returns a clip id immediately; poll getRepurposeClip until DONE or UPDATED for download_url.

## Request body

  - `title` string, required
  - `description` string
  - `start_time` integer, required: Absolute whole seconds from the start of the source media.
  - `end_time` integer, required: Absolute whole seconds; must be later than start_time and within the source media duration.

## Response `201`

Resource or asynchronous submission result.

  - `source` 'AI' | 'CU'

  - `story_id` string, uuid, nullable
  - `download_url` string, nullable: Rendered clip URL. Read it after job_status is DONE or UPDATED.
