# PM · Tasks · Create a task in a status column with inline assignees and tags

`POST /api/v1/pm/tasks`

## Request

Create a task in a status column. The `status` UUID is required and determines
which board the task belongs to. Composite fields (`assignees`, `tags`) are
handled by the toolkit's middleware — pass them inline and the correct
sub-resource calls are made automatically after creation.
Note: `assignees` are NOT reflected in the create response; use
`getTask?expand=assignees` to verify.

## Request body

- TaskCreateRequest: Create a task. `status` is the target status UUID — board is inferred from it. `tags` are set natively in one call. `assignees` is a composite field — the toolkit calls `POST /tasks/{id}/assignees/` automatically after creation. Attachments and dependencies still require separate calls.
  - `status` string, uuid, required: Target status UUID.
  - `title` string
  - `description` string: Plain text task description. This is the field agents and CLI users should set. The toolkit converts it to a Quill Delta and writes `rich_description` automatically.
  - `rich_description` object: INTERNAL — Quill Delta representation. Set automatically by the toolkit when you pass `description`. Do not pass directly unless you have a pre-built Delta and know what you're doing.
  - `start_date` string, date-time
  - `due_date` string, date-time
  - `priority` integer: Priority enum value.
  - `parent` string, uuid: Parent task UUID (for subtasks).
  - `task_type` 'TASK' | 'SUBTASK' | 'CHECKLIST' | 'TEMPLATE': Task discriminator. Defaults to `TASK`.
  - `complete` boolean
  - `estimated_hours` number, double: Estimated completion time in hours.
  - `order` integer
  - `extra` object: Free-form payload (`_extra` on the model).
  - `custom_fields` object: Map of custom field UUID → value. Validated against board's custom-field configuration.
  - `tags` string[]: Tag names to apply to the task on creation (native — set in one call).
  - `assignees` integer[]: Integer user IDs to assign (get from listWorkspaceMembers). Composite field — toolkit calls POST /tasks/{id}/assignees/ automatically after creation. Note: assignees are NOT in the createTask response; use getTask?expand=assignees to verify.
