# Media · Image · Magic inpaint — AI object removal / replacement

`POST /api/v1/tools/magic-inpaint`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.simplified.com`
- URL: `https://api.simplified.com/api/v1/tools/magic-inpaint`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Remove or replace objects in an image, guided by `prompt`, with no mask
needed (the model locates the target). Use for "remove the person" /
"replace the car with a bike". With an explicit mask region use
`generativeFill`; to extend beyond the borders use `imageOutpainting`.
Async — returns a task_id (auto-polled).

## Request body

- object
  - `image_url` string, required: URL of the source image.
  - `prompt` string, required: Text description of the desired result.
  - `scale` number, double: Guidance scale for generation strength.

## Response `202`

Async task queued.

- AsyncTaskResponse
  - `task_id` string: Poll GET /api/v1/tasks/{task_id} until SUCCESS or FAILURE.
