# Archive API Key certificate \[EXPERIMENTAL\]

`DELETE /apiKeys/{apiKey}/certificates/{certificateKey}`

## Request

This operation archives an active certificate of the API Key, identified by the `certificateKey` that was
returned when it was added. It stays in the list with the status `archived`
and is no longer accepted for authentication. Archiving frees one of the two active certificate slots, which
is the last step of rotating a certificate.

The last active certificate of an API Key with mTLS enabled can't be archived.

The change takes a short time to take effect, so an archived certificate can still be accepted for a while.

Requires `apiKeys:Archive` permission.

## Path parameters

- `apiKey` string, required: Uniquely identifies an API Key
- `certificateKey` string, required: Uniquely identifies a certificate bound to an API Key

## Response `204`

Certificate archived successfully

## Other responses

- `401`: Authentication information is missing or invalid
- `403`: The authenticated client is forbidden to make the request for the resource identified.
- `404`: The requested resource was not found
- `409`: The request could not be completed due to a conflict with the current state of the resources involved in the request.
- `429`: The number of requests (per minute) has exceeded the configured maximum
