# Get metadata of a document

`GET /document/{document_id}/metadata`

## Request

This endpoint allows API users to retrieve metadata for a selected document.

## Response `200`

Metadata of the document.

- object
  - `content` object: Metadata as key-value pairs.
  - `updated` string: Unix timestamp of the last update, as a string. `0` if the metadata was never updated.
  - `application_id` string: Internal ID of the application that added the metadata.

## Other responses

- `400`: * Request with bearer token from another user. * Invalid token.
- `404`: Request with `document_id` that doesn’t match the pattern `[a-z0-9]{40}`.
