# Update SIP gateway

`PATCH /api/fabric/resources/sip_gateways/{id}`

Changes the destination or supported media settings of a SIP Gateway identified by resource ID. Use it when outbound SIP routing changes; update a registering device through [Update SIP credential](/docs/apis/rest/sip-credentials/update-sip-credential) instead.

#### Permissions

The API token used to authenticate must have the following scope(s) enabled to make a successful request: _Voice_, _Messaging_, _Fax_, or _Video_.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required — Universal Unique Identifier.

## Request body

- SipGatewayRequestUpdate
  - `name` string — Display name for the SIP Gateway.
  - `uri` string — External SIP URI.
  - `encryption` 'required' | 'optional' | 'default'
  - `ciphers` Ciphers[] — List of supported SIP ciphers.
  - `codecs` Codecs[] — List of supported codecs for media transmission.

## Response `200`

The request has succeeded.

  - `project_id` string, uuid, required — Universal Unique Identifier.
  - `display_name` string, required — Display name of the SIP Gateway.
  - `type` 'sip_gateway', required — Type of the resource.
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required — Timestamp when the resource was created.
  - `updated_at` string, date-time, required — Timestamp when the resource was last updated.
  - `sip_gateway` SipGateway, required
    - `id` string, uuid, required — Universal Unique Identifier.
    - `uri` string, required — The URI for the SIP Gateway.
    - `name` string, required — Display name of the SIP Gateway.
    - `ciphers` Ciphers[], required — List of supported SIP ciphers.
    - `codecs` Codecs[], required — List of supported codecs.
    - `encryption` 'required' | 'optional' | 'default', required

## Other responses

- `401` — Access is unauthorized.
- `404` — The server cannot find the requested resource.
- `422` — The request contains invalid parameters. See errors for details.
- `500` — An internal server error occurred.
