# Manually open ANY document for split — the CPA fail-safe override

`POST /internal/api/document/{document_id}/initiate-split`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.signalshq.io` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://api.signalshq.io/internal/api/document/{document_id}/initiate-split`
- Auth: OAuth 2
  - Password
  - Token URL: `/auth/login`

Flips a document into AWAITING_SPLIT on demand so the CPA can split it regardless of how the classifier labeled it (single form, 'Other', 'Unsupported', or a failed classification). Rejects a SPLIT_CHILD; idempotent if already awaiting split.
