# Get shares-outstanding and cash history

`GET /dilution/{ticker}/history`

## Request

Historical shares-outstanding and cash-position series sourced from the
company's own SEC XBRL facts, with snapshot-derived offering and
cash-event overlays so a move in the series can be attributed to the
financing that caused it.

🔴 The historical shares-outstanding series is AS FILED — each point is
on the split basis in force when that period was reported, and is NOT
rebased onto today's basis. Comparing a point to a current share count
without applying the split chain is wrong by the cumulative factor.

Degrades rather than fails: if SEC XBRL is unreachable the endpoint
returns 200 with empty arrays and `degraded: true`. Empty is not zero.

- `400`: Invalid request parameters
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key
- `402`: Not enough credits for this request
- `403`: The API key's owner does not hold the per-user add-on this endpoint is sold under. 🔴 This is NOT a tier problem — a Pro subscription does not confer an add-on. Route the user to add-on purchase (`addonType` names which one), not to a plan upgrade. The distinct `ADDON_REQUIRED` code exists so the two flows can be told apart; treating it as `TIER_INSUFFICIENT` sends a paying customer to a page that cannot sell them what they were denied.
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
