# Update the signed-in user's notification preferences.

`PATCH /users/me/notification_preferences`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1/users/me/notification_preferences`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

A preference left out of the body, or sent as `null`, is left
unchanged. Service accounts are refused with a `403`
(`service_account_forbidden`).

## Request body

- UpdateNotificationPreferencesRequest: The request body for PATCH /users/me/notification_preferences. A field left out, or sent as `null`, is left unchanged.
  - `are_email_notifications_enabled` boolean, nullable: Whether the user should receive email notifications.

## Response `204`

The preferences were updated.

## Other responses

- `400`: The body is not valid JSON or a field has the wrong type (`user_patch_notification_preferences_error`).
- `424`: The preferences could not be saved (`user_patch_notification_preferences_error`).
- `default`: Standard error response. Emitted for any non-2xx status where a body can be decoded into an [ErrorResponse].
