# Rename an organization.

`PATCH /organizations/{organizationId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1/organizations/{organizationId}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

Requires the `organizations.update` permission, which the `admin`
and `owner` roles hold.

## Request body

- UpdateOrganizationRequest: The request body for PATCH /organizations/{organizationId}.
  - `name` string, required: The new name of the organization. Must not be blank.

## Response `204`

The organization was renamed.

## Other responses

- `400`: The organization id is not an integer (`organization_id_malformed`), the body could not be parsed (`organization_patch_error`), or the name is blank (`organization_name_blank`).
- `403`: The caller lacks the `organizations.update` permission.
- `404`: No such organization, or the caller is not a member of it (`organization_membership_guard_error`).
- `424`: Renaming the organization failed (`organization_patch_error`).
- `default`: Standard error response. Emitted for any non-2xx status where a body can be decoded into an [ErrorResponse].
