# Get an organization and the caller's role in it.

`GET /organizations/{organizationId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.shorebird.dev/api/v1/organizations/{organizationId}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - HTTP bearer

Requires the `organizations.view` permission, which every role
except `auditor` holds. A collaborator who holds a role only on some
of the organization's apps (role `none`) is refused.

## Response `200`

The organization and the caller's role in it.

- OrganizationMembership: An organization and the current user's role in it.
  - `organization` Organization, required: An organization groups users and apps together.
    - `id` integer, required: The unique identifier for the organization.
    - `name` string, required: The name of the organization.
    - `organization_type` 'personal' | 'team', required: Every organization is `team`. `personal` was a single-user organization created with each account; none are created any more and existing ones are being converted, so the value is kept only so older clients can still parse responses.
    - `created_at` string, date-time, required: When this organization was created.
    - `updated_at` string, date-time, required: When this organization was last updated.
  - `role` 'owner' | 'admin' | 'appManager' | 'developer' | 'viewer' | 'auditor' | 'scim' | 'none', required: A role that a user can have relative to an Organization or App.

## Other responses

- `400`: The organization id is not an integer (`organization_id_malformed`).
- `403`: The caller lacks the `organizations.view` permission.
- `404`: No such organization, or the caller is not a member of it (`organization_membership_guard_error`).
- `default`: Standard error response. Emitted for any non-2xx status where a body can be decoded into an [ErrorResponse].
