# Update a note

`PUT /notes/{id}`

## Request

- Auth: API key in query parameter `account_id` and API key in query parameter `authToken`

**Plan: Paid API.** Updates the note. Send the new `content`. The other fields are
optional. The note stays on the same record. The request finds the note by its `id`
and ignores parent reference parameters. A user can update a note that another user
wrote only if the role of the user has **Edit & Remove All Users' Notes**.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing/expired credentials, an index request without a required filter, or the plan does not include this endpoint.
- `403`: Another user wrote the note, and the role of this user does not have **Edit & Remove All Users' Notes**.
- `404`: No active note in this account has this `id`. A deleted note gives this response too.
- `422`: Unprocessable entity - field errors keyed by attribute.
