# Reset mailbox password

`PATCH /mailboxes/{id}/password`

## Request

  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `https://shipmail.to/api/auth/oauth2/authorize`, token URL `https://shipmail.to/api/auth/oauth2/token`)

Reset the login password for a mailbox. Requires `mailbox_credentials:write` and an Owner or Admin who can read the mailbox, or its own sign-in principal. Non-Owners cannot reset a mailbox that receives an Owner login address. API keys created before 2026-09-29 may still use `mailboxes:write` alone; that exception is deprecated and will be removed.

  - `password` string, required: New mailbox login password. Must be 8-128 characters and include lowercase, uppercase, and numeric characters.
