# Get root causes

`GET /resolutionCodes/rootCauses`

## Request

Returns a list of root causes. Root causes are set up for trades and describe reasons why the problem occurred to begin with.

## Response `200`

Root causes are in the response.

- ServiceChannelServicesWebApiModelsResponseResolutionCodesRootCauseResponse[]
  - `Key` integer: Root cause identifier.
  - `Value` string: Root cause name.
  - `HasFreeText` boolean: Defines whether a user can enter a comment explaining their understanding of the root cause and specifying the reason why the problem occurred.
  - `Order` integer: Order of appearance of a root cause.
  - `AssetCategoryIds` integer[]: Asset category ID. A value populates only if two or more categories are specified in assetCategoryIds in the filter.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is not accepted due to bad syntax, missing parameters, insufficient data, etc. <br/>Error codes: 4113 — You can specify up to 5 asset categories
- `401`: The request is not authorized. <br/>Error codes: 504 — API call rejected by security permissions
- `403`: You are not authorized to request this resource, or the resource is unavailable for some reason. <br/>Error codes: 4114 — You don't have access to asset categories
- `500`: The server was unable to complete the request due to an internal error.
