# Add an asset type meter

`POST /AssetTypes/AssetTypeMeter`

Creates a new asset type meter for a particular asset type for the current subscriber.

## Request body

- ServiceChannelServicesMessagingAssetsAssetTypeMeterRequestItem: Object with an asset type meter details.
  - `Id` integer: Unique numeric identifier of an asset type meter.
  - `Name` string: Asset type meter name given by a user.
  - `MaxValue` string: Maximum value that a user can enter when recording a meter reading on an asset.
  - `Notes` string: Comment added to a meter when creating or editing an asset type meter.
  - `Inactive` boolean: Defines whether a meter is active or has been deactivated. **Possible values:** *true*, *false*. Note that readings can be recorded for active meters only.
  - `EditOnWO` boolean: Defines whether a user can record asset meter readings on a work order via Dashboard. **Possible values:** *true*, *false*.
  - `AssetTypeId` integer: Unique numeric identifier of an asset type.
  - `UnitOfMeasure` integer: Number of the unit of measure associated with a meter. This is a sequence number of the unit of measure as it is listed in the overlay for creating a meter.

## Response `200`

The asset type meter is successfully added.

## Other responses

- `400`: The request is not accepted due to bad syntax, missing parameters, insufficient data, etc. <br/> Failed to Create Asset Type Meter
- `401`: The request is not authorized. <br/>Error codes: 504 — API call rejected by security permissions
- `500`: The server was unable to complete the request due to an internal error. <br/>Error codes: 501 — Object reference not set to an instance of an object
