# Use sequence email variation

`POST /sequences/{sequenceId}/emails/{emailId}/variations/{variationId}/use`

## Request

Saves a ready variation's design (blocks, theme and font) into the email, which keeps its own subject and preview text. With scope all, every other editable email of the sequence also takes its style exactly, without AI, keeping its own words. Each email saves on its own; one saved elsewhere since it was read is not overwritten (saved false with an error). Translations and A/B copy are re-derived. With dryRun nothing is saved.

## Request body

- object
  - `scope` 'email' | 'all': email changes only this email; all also gives every other email of the sequence its style.
  - `dryRun` boolean: Return what would change without saving.

## Response `200`

The emails it changed

  - `emails` object[]: This email first, then, with scope all, every other editable email in sending order.

    - `label` string
    - `status` 'changed' | 'unchanged' | 'failed'

    - `saved` boolean
    - `error` string, nullable: Why a changed email wasn't saved, or a warning when only its translations or A/B copy couldn't be updated.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation error, or the step can't have variations (an A/B test step, a step without an email, or one that sends the same email as an earlier step)
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: API key is missing the required sequences scope
- `404`: Sequence or variation not found, or the email is not one of its steps
- `409`: The variation is still generating or failed, so there is nothing to use
- `422`: Request body failed validation
