# Start or stop recording a call

`POST /v3/voice/calls/{id}/recordings`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sent.dm`
- URL: `https://api.sent.dm/v3/voice/calls/{id}/recordings`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Starts or stops recording one of your live calls. Use start to begin recording mid-call, or stop to end a recording, whether it was started here or by a connect answer with record set. A call that has already ended answers 409, as do a call with no phone leg, such as one between two app users, and a call one of your voice agents answers, neither of which can be recorded this way.

## Request body

- SentDmServicesEndpointsCustomerAPIv3VoiceCallsRequestsRecordCallRequest: Request to start or stop recording one of your live calls
  - `sandbox` boolean: Sandbox flag - when true, the operation is simulated without side effects Useful for testing integrations without actual execution
  - `action` string: start to begin recording, stop to end it

## Response `204`

The recording is being started or stopped

## Other responses

- `400`: The id is not a call id, or the action is neither start nor stop
- `401`: Unauthorized - Invalid API credentials
- `403`: Call recording is not available
- `404`: No call with this id belongs to your account
- `409`: The call has already ended, has no phone leg, or is answered by a voice agent
- `500`: Internal server error
