# Update a participant

`PATCH /v3/voice/calls/{id}/participants/{participantId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sent.dm`

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Mutes or unmutes one participant of the conference room a live call is in, named by the participant's own call id from the participants list: send muted true to silence them, muted false to let them be heard again. Muting a participant who is already muted succeeds, as does unmuting one who is not. A participant who is not in this call's room answers 404. A call that has ended answers 409, as does a call that is not in a conference.

## Request body

- SentDmServicesEndpointsCustomerAPIv3VoiceCallsRequestsPatchCallParticipantRequest: Request to change a participant of one of your conference calls: mute or unmute them
  - `sandbox` boolean: Sandbox flag - when true, the operation is simulated without side effects Useful for testing integrations without actual execution
  - `muted` boolean, required: true to mute the participant, false to unmute them

## Response `204`

The participant is now muted or unmuted

## Other responses

- `400`: An id is not a call id, or muted is missing
- `401`: Unauthorized - Invalid API credentials
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: No call with this id belongs to your account, or the participant is not in its room
- `409`: The call has already ended, or is not in a conference
- `500`: Internal server error
