# Delete a mailbox

`DELETE /api/mailboxes/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sendly.now`
- URL: `https://api.sendly.now/api/mailboxes/{id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in cookie `better-auth.session_token`
  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `https://app.sendly.now/api/auth/oauth2/authorize`, token URL `https://app.sendly.now/api/auth/oauth2/token`, scopes: `mailboxes:write`)

Delete a mailbox and the mail account behind it. **Every message it holds is erased**, and Sendly keeps no other copy — this is not recoverable from the dashboard or by support. Mail sent to the address afterwards is rejected.

Requires an admin of the project.

Requires the `mailboxes:write` scope — Create and delete mailboxes on your verified domains.
