# Ask one question about one registered business

`POST /api/registry/lookup`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://selectbnbs.com`
- URL: `https://selectbnbs.com/api/registry/lookup`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Question-style single-record lookup. Send either a full LOCALDATA management_number (with its Korean issuing region when the number repeats across local governments, as urban-homestay and hanok CDFI numbers do), or the registered business name together with its Korean issuing region. The response carries only what verification needs: name, permit type, official status and its as-of date and, for keyed callers, the management number, issuing authority, permit date, source citation, and stable record URL. No pagination, no browsing, no bulk fields, and no totals. Anonymous callers share the public allowance of five lookups per UTC day per IP (the same five checks as POST /api/registry/verify and the form); each anonymous lookup uses one whether or not it finds a record, and receives the minimal fields. A free API key issued instantly by POST /api/registry/keys raises that to 120 lookups per hour and unlocks the citation fields. Removed bulk surfaces (area browse, context preview, catalog-checks.json, snapshots) answer 410 and point here.

## Request body

- RegistryLookupRequest: One question. Either management_number (optionally with its Korean issuing region), or name together with its Korean issuing region.
  - `management_number` string: Full LOCALDATA management number, e.g. AGCV065100002022000448.
  - `name` string: Registered business name exactly as registered.
  - `region` string: Korean issuing area text, e.g. 서울특별시 종로구. Required with name; optional with management_number, where it picks the local government that issued a shared number.

## Response `200`

One unambiguous registered-business record, or found=false with guidance.

- RegistryLookupResult
  - `schema_version` string, required
  - `generated_at` string, date-time
  - `found` boolean, required
  - `matched_on` 'management_number' | 'management_number_region' | 'name_region', required
  - `record` object: Present only when found. Anonymous callers receive name, type, and status with its as-of date; keyed callers additionally receive management_number, authority, permit_date, source, citation, and record_url. Addresses and facility/safety-equipment fields are never returned.
    - `name` string, nullable
    - `type` object
    - `status` object
    - `management_number` string, nullable
    - `authority` string, nullable
    - `permit_date` string, nullable

## Other responses

- `401`: A bearer key was sent but is unknown or inactive.
- `404`: No single unambiguous record matches the question.
- `422`: The question is malformed; see detail.
- `429`: The daily allowance (anonymous) or hourly allowance (key) for this caller is used. Retry-After gives the wait in seconds and X-RateLimit-* headers describe the allowance.
- `503`: Registry cache or quota service unavailable.
