# Get a free API key instantly

`POST /api/registry/keys`

## Request

Send your agent or app name and receive a free bearer key at once: no signup, no email. The key raises POST /api/registry/verify and POST /api/registry/lookup from the shared five-per-UTC-day public allowance to 120 lookups per hour per key, and lookup adds citation fields. The key is shown once; SelectBNBs keeps only its hash. Lookups made with it are logged under the name you send. Each connection can create three keys per UTC day.

## Response `201`

api_key (shown once), name, hourly_limit, and how to send the key.

## Other responses

- `422`: The name is missing, too short, or contains control characters.
- `429`: This connection has created its three keys for today; reuse one.
- `503`: Key issuance is unavailable.
