# Delete a source

`DELETE /sources/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.screvi.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.screvi.com/api/v1/sources/{id}`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Soft delete. By default a source with highlights is refused with 409, so a stray call can't take a book's worth of highlights with it; pass `?cascade=true` to delete the source and its highlights together. Requires the `write` scope.

## Query parameters

- `cascade` boolean

## Response `200`

Deletion confirmed

## Other responses

- `404`: Not found
- `409`: Source still has highlights and cascade was not set
