# Scrape Wellfound startup company profiles

`POST /companies/wellfound`

## Request

Given a Wellfound `company` (slug like `stripe` or a wellfound.com/company/<slug> URL), returns its profile: `name`, `tagline`, `description`, `website` and social links, `companySize`, `stage`, `badges`, `markets`, `locations`, `companyTypes`, `hiring`, `openJobs` with `openJobsByRole`, `totalRaised`, `fundingRounds` (`type`, `date`, `valuation`), `founders` (name, profile URL, role, bio, location), `teamMembersCount`, `perks`, `media`, the first open `jobs` (with `jobsTotal`) and `similarCompanies`. Company profiles sit behind a Cloudflare challenge, so a call can take up to about a minute. `mode=search` lists Wellfound's startup directory by `location` or `industry` (10 companies per page, paged up to `max_results`) with website, description, markets, locations and open-job counts. Billed one unit per page fetched (`pagesFetched`).

## Query parameters

- `mode` string: 'profile' (default): one company's profile. 'search': the startup directory by location or industry.
- `company` string, nullable: mode=profile: the company slug ('stripe') or URL (https://wellfound.com/company/stripe).
- `location` string, nullable: mode=search: location as text or slug ('new york', 'london').
- `industry` string, nullable: mode=search: Wellfound industry slug ('saas', 'fintech-2', 'artificial-intelligence', 'health-care', 'e-commerce'; see wellfound.com/browse/tech-industries). Common names such as 'fintech', 'healthcare', 'crypto' or 'edtech' are mapped to their slug.
- `url` string, nullable: mode=search: a Wellfound directory URL (https://wellfound.com/startups/location/new-york or /startups/industry/<industry>) instead of location / industry.
- `page` integer: mode=search: 1-based page to start from (10 companies per page).
- `max_results` integer: mode=search: how many companies to collect (1-100); each page fetched is one billed unit.
- `proxy_country` string, nullable: Proxy country the request is sent from (ISO-2, e.g. 'US', 'DE'). Leave blank for the country chosen for the site.

JSON with `company` (or `companies` with mode=search).

- `400`: Invalid parameters.
- `404`: Wellfound has no such company, location or industry.
- `422`: Validation Error
- `502`: Blocked by Wellfound on every attempt, no page returned, or Wellfound did not answer in time.
