# Search species occurrence records

`POST /api/v1/search_species_occurrence`

## Request

Find where and when a species has been recorded, from GBIF. Resolves a scientific or common name to a taxon, then returns the total record count and georeferenced occurrence records (coordinates, date, country, dataset, licence). Only CC0 and CC BY records are returned.

Discipline pack: earth. Cost: 2 credits per successful call.

## Request body

- object
  - `species` string, required: Scientific name (Danaus plexippus) or common name (monarch butterfly).
  - `country` string: Two-letter ISO 3166 country code, e.g. MX.
  - `year_from` integer: Earliest year of the record.
  - `year_to` integer: Latest year of the record.
  - `has_coordinates` boolean: Only records with coordinates (default true).
  - `limit` integer: Records to return (default 50).
